Filters and Cautions
Setting Filters and cautions with online programs. What to be aware of as you delve into the adventure and anticipation of earning monies online. This may not be new to many of you, however, always good for reminding yourself as you pursue building that online business.
If you have spent any time at all searching “Business Opportunities, Earning online opportunities, Ways to start an online business, etc. You will have some exposure on what I am about to say here.
Filters:
1. Your WHY – what are you really looking to achieve with an online business?
There has to be a deeper WHY than ‘making money’
Even though the reality of why most of us are triggered to searching for some other source of income, is to supplement or replace our J. O. B.’s eventually, working online, is no different than when you were encouraged at the last of your school years, to think about ‘What you would LIKE”to do for your adult earning years.
We need that inner drive and desire to keep us motivated, and focused on putting the work in – and YES even if it is online – IT Still requires WORK.
Recommendation: Start with a new NOTE BOOK, Title it ‘My Online Journey’ for e.g..
Write at the top of First Page;
MY WHY’s to earning online income:
Take this seriously. Indicate all the reasons, having a business and extra income Online is of
importance and interest to you – What will change for you, for your family. How will you and your loved ones benefit, Etc.
- Aligning with your interests: Research types of Businesses that align with your interests. Do You have a long standing love of books? Are you a marketer/sales person, at heart? Have you always dreamed of having a Store – where you can sell products, Your own creations? OR Special Collections from unique providers.
- Set a Budget
Cautions:
There are millions of marketers online looking to scoop you into their ‘funnel’. And yes, as you become successful in your business, you will be doing the same.
However, there are also good and not so good practices that are being used to get you drawn in. My sincere hope with this content, is that it will both create some ‘caution’ for you to screen with as you
come upon interesting marketing, to prevent you chasing down endless rabbit holes and achieving little, while spending large. AND that these cautions, will instill for you, the ‘good’ practices to place within your business, so you can build a reputable brand and process for your customers or clients.
- Initial Purchase price low – higher prices are inside…..which are know as….
- Upsells – rabbit holes or Value? A quick way to burn your budget
- Check for subscription costs – recurring monthly /annual requirements – These are often hidden
- “Done For You” attractions – not totally what it says it is….. Find out first ‘how much’ you need to do too. These are mostly set up with choices, selections, templates that you will still need to be working into your own site, or program – so rarely is it an actual DONE FOR YOU. Still count on requiring at minimum 10 hours per week to set up and operate your business.
- Re brands of same programs (You’re buying the same thing different name and marketing)
- Check Refund policies before you buy
- ‘Shiny Object” Syndrome
- Automated responses that do not give you the answers you are looking for - Don’t be shy to persist to connect with their support – to ask for and advocate for what you understood the program to provide.
Getting online can be a long and discouraging process. If you start with the above ‘Cautions’ in mind
you are light years ahead of going in blind and naïve. You will also save thousands of dollars and years of wasted time.
